Patronato vs Boca Juniors
Patronato left good impressions on their visit to Velez Sarsfield in round 12, but they weren’t effective up front and ended up losing 1-0. The team remain bottom in group B on nine points and also dropped down to the last spot in the points average rankings, but all of those points were grabbed across the last five league games as a product of three victories and two defeats. On the bright side, El Patron are on three consecutive successes at their own stadium, having beaten Aldosivi, Gimnasia LP and Sarmiento.
Boca Juniors clinched their ticket to the league playoffs thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 home success over Lanus, with Carlos Izquierdoz netting the winner in the 75th minute. Miguel Angel Russo’s men made it three consecutive victories in the Copa Liga Profesional to occupy second spot in group B on 22 points. Ten of those points were managed on away turf as El Xeneize registered three victories, one draw and one defeat. In spite of having recovered from Covid-19, goalkeeper Esteban Andrada is self-isolating in Ecuador after testing positive again.
Boca has already secured a playoff place, they are coming from losing at Ecuador and hve another midweek Copa Libertadores game in a few days, so I can’t imagine them really focused on this match and the hosts could take at least a draw.
