Lanus vs Patronato

Lanus fans will have felt disappointed after the team’s 2-0 away defeat in the derby at Banfield following an unacceptable performance last Saturday. Luis Zubeldia’s men remain on ten points as they won only one of their last four league matches, along with one draw and two losses. That negative run displaced them from the playoff spots in group B. On a positive note, El Granate took 13 points from the last 15 available at home in league action.

Patronato are the worst team in the league at the moment. They suffered their sixth defeat in as many matches in the Copa Liga Profesional last Saturday, when losing to Huracan 1-0 at their own stadium. Having not earned any points so far this term, El Patron are also bottom in the points average table, which will compromise their top-flight status in 2022. On away turf, Ivan Delfino’s men lost to Talleres, Defensa y Justicia and Atletico Tucuman consecutively since beating Union Santa Fe in January.

Lanus needs to recover fast from last week’s defeat in the derby and a game at home against the terrible Patronato looks like a great opportunity for them.
