Argentine Primera Division: Lanus vs Newell’s Odds for November 14, 2020

Lanus vs Newell’s

Lanus were close to taking an important win last Monday, but they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Talleres, having conceded in stoppage time. It was their first point in the Copa Liga Profesional to remain third-placed in group 4. In fact, Lanus are on eight winless matches in top-flight action (five draws and three defeats). Four of those games took place at Estadio Nestor Diaz Perez, with the hosts earning only two points.

Newell’s Old Boys are bottom in group 4 without any points following a 2-0 home defeat to Boca Juniors last Sunday. The side managed a single victory in their last five competitive matches, drawing one and losing three. La Lepra have been irregular on away turf in 2020, registering a single success, three draws and one loss. Newell’s Old Boys centre back Fabricio Fontanini is set to return from suspension after his sending-off at Talleres in round one. On the other hand, first-choice goalkeeper Alan Aguerre suffered an elbow injury against Boca Juniors and will miss out.

It’s hard to understand how Lanus has only 1 point after two games considering how well they played in Copa Sudamericana where they eliminated brazilian giants Sao Paulo, and if they don’t win here they can almost say goodbye to their chances of advancing to the championship stage. Newell’s has looked poor so far, with old players and in this game without their regular goalkeeper.
