Cardiff and Fulham meet tonight in the 2nd of this season’s championship playoff first-leg matches, the sides met a few weeks ago in the league that finished 2-0 to the home side in a pretty much-deserved win for Fulham, however, what I was looking at is the goal line for that match, it went off at Over/Under 2.25 @ 1.97 best odds. Now in that match, both sides were still pushing and on paper, it looks a much more open match than tonight’s match should be but yet the odds are very similar on the same goal line of 2.25 and I think the under 2.25 at current odds offer some value. The championship playoff semi-final first legs are games that by their nature are usually tight affairs, if you go back through the history of the Championship playoffs first legs it has seen 42 matches go under 2.5 goals in the first leg (Including last night’s match) and 27 go over, So, as you can see there is a clear bias in favour of the under goals in these matches. Fulham for me is quite a defensive side away from home, they often set up to defend well and hope Mitrovic their star frontman can grab them a goal, their games away from home have averaged only 2 goals a game, Cardiff home matches average 2.43 goals per game but I think we will see both sides set up to try and snatch something and we should see a cagey match played out with neither side looking to commit too many men forward, So betting the under 2.25 goals at current odds.Â
